Decision Time

By this time next week we will know the results of the election. Not everyone will agree, and some may respond with violent words or actions. Actions that many individuals take over the next several weeks and months will determine the direction of our country for many years to come.

IF you have not yet voted PLEASE ACT NOW. Be Mindful, consider the character of the candidates and the values that you stand for, and VOTE.

There really is not much left to say. I find it incredibly sad that millions of people are still planning to support a candidate who has repeatedly demonstrated his disregard for truth, his disrespect for others and his single-minded focus on gaining wealth and power for himself. His own ‘close’ supporters realize who he really is, and yet continue to “use” him to further their own agendas. The remaining fragments of the Republican party who have forked into ‘trumpublicans’ (Mitch McConnell, Mike Johnson, et.al.). The billionaires who want more tax breaks and less regulation (Elon Musk, Koch family, DeVos family, et.al.) The christian-nationalists who want to embed their own version of religion into our government while getting rich in the process (Kenneth Copeland, et.al.). None of these people truly believe dtrump is a good person at his core. As Steve Bannon said “Trump is a blunt instrument for us.” dtrump’s strongest supporters just see him as a way to get what they want. Yet millions of working-class Americans keep donating money to him and voting for him.

I have just voted. This was the first time in my life that I voted a ‘straight ticket’ – all Democratic candidates. As mentioned before, I believe the Republican party has been split into ‘trumpublicans’ and those still left with some sense of integrity who are honest with themselves and the public about who dtrump really is (Liz Cheney, et.al.).

We inherited political parties like Whigs and Tories from England in the 1700’s. Groups then morphed into a variety of different forms including the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans in the late 1700’s / early 1800’s. This evolution has continued into our current Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Greens and many others. At some point in the future the Democratic party will likely go through it’s own major change. Our nation has had many political parties since we were founded, and will probably have many more if we survive this cycle.

But for now – today – we have a choice. And as of today, the only choice that I see has a higher probability of sustaining free-speech and democracy is to stop dtrump, and that can only be done with a large focused effort and the only group large enough to do this is the Democratic party. If you value your freedoms and your voice, please take action to support them.
