Independent Voters for Democracy
Look at History. Recognize Patterns. Make Good Choices.
Look at History ?
Read. Talk with older people who have lived through it. Watch movies. Listen to podcasts. Are the stories accurate? How can you tell for sure? Do your homework. Take it all in but don’t let it overwhelm you. Learn.
Recognize Patterns ?
Notice recurring themes over time, at both low-level details and high-level abstractions. Recognize what regularly motivates us as humans. Food. Love. Comfort. Pay attention when someone is trying to use fear or anger to motivate. Is it a real threat? Or just manipulation?
Make Good Choices ?
Acknowledge the difference between Needs and Wants. Accept that there is no one single perfect choice. Our quality of life is based on many choices made over time, and there are almost always trade-offs to be made and considerations of short-term and long-term gains and losses.
